Built with Love!

The Magic Barn can be rented in conjunction with The Magic House (4 bedrooms with 3 full bathroom) to accommodate large and small groups.

We sometimes block out holidays for the Magic Barn to reserve for rental in conjunction with the Magic House. If you want to reserve both units and your dates are not available, please email with us to discuss availability.

From 2000 to 2015 the Magic Barn was Todji’s sculpture studio. Most of the sculptures in the sculpture garden were designed right here and are exhibited for everyone to experience.

You have your own entrance through the “Star Gate” on the left side of the house. The Magic Barn is its own separate unit with kitchen and bath. The sculpture garden is shared with the main house.

We are available to assist your stay in person, via phone, text or email. Hobie lives in the main house, and Todji and Gisele live nearby.

We all work full time and are active so we leave casual interaction up to the ease and flow of everyone’s schedules. We tend to meet our guests more often in the summer, and less often when it is cold or raining.

We are very centrally located, and along with that convenience comes street traffic that is visible when entering and exiting. The main house is called “The Magic House”, and it is on a fairly busy four lane street in a neighborhood that we consider very safe. The Magic Barn is set back from the street behind The Magic House, and past guests have written in their reviews that the Magic Barn is “tranquil”, “quiet” and “serene”.

The bathroom doors have some decorative glass. If you are very modest please take a look at the photos of the bathroom doors before booking.

We are permitted by the city of Portland.

During the summer of 2015 Todji designed and built the Magic Barn with the talented carpenters and fine art painters Theo Holdt and TJ Ravenwolf. The interior wood siding are salvaged old growth barn planks, and the ceiling is made of the original 1936 rafters and sheathing.

TJ’s painting is hanging above the couch. TJ is native American from the Alaskan tribes of Koyukon Athabaskan and Muscogee Creek. TJ collected all of the natural pigments in the painting from all around Oregon in prayer.

Your host Hobie lives onsite and is available for friendly help and also to respect privacy. Todji and Gisele live nearby.

Hobie is a novelist and professional writer, and we give work at the Magic House to community artists.

Todji and Gisele produce public art bronze sculpture monuments for US cities which you may already have seen, or that you may see one day.

We hope to host you at the Magic Barn!
