Between the two of us, we have 50 years of experience in the hospitality and service industry and we think we’ve done a pretty great job of making Aldrich Guest House a great place for you.
For our cannabis consumers, we have built a Potting Shed (see what we did there?) for you to enjoy your cannabis while you’re here. This is separate from the house so that we don’t bother guests who do not wish to be around it – there’s room for everyone in the world!
And did we say ‘shed’?! Really, it should be called a tiny house since it’s got some comfy furniture, a TV for streaming funny YouTube videos, heat/AC, and there’s even a snack bar in it because we all know food is a completely different experience when high. We got your back!
The Potting Shed makes Aldrich Guest House the first and only 420 friendly lodging in Galena and is the only place that cannabis consumption is allowed at Aldrich Guest House. It is more of a ‘tiny house’ than a shed, but you have to admit, ‘The Potting Shed’ is a pretty clever name, don’t you think?
The Potting Shed is a separate building from the main house. It is fully climate controlled, has comfy furniture, free and fast WiFi, and a television so you can cast your favorite cat videos from YouTube because man those are way funnier when you’re high! There is also a paid ‘honor bar’ for snacks…chips, chocolate, peanuts, dried cranberries, and other things so you can make your own combination of yummy high food.
The goal with The Potting Shed is to be a cannabis friendly lodging option without disturbing those who don’t wish to partake. Being physically separate from the house, it gives privacy in a legal, comfortable environment for those who want to enjoy cannabis while respecting the preference of guests who prefer to refrain.

Guest Rooms
All rooms have a private bathroom and wireless high-speed internet.
Room 1
Located in the front of the house, this room is flooded with light and very airy. Look through the windows and you can see Jones’ masterpiece, the Belvedere Mansion, which he constructed after building part of the Aldrich Guest House. This room has a queen sized bed, a loveseat for two, individually controlled heat and A/C, and a private bath with a stand-up shower.
Room 2
With a park view, this room is bright and sunny and has a large seating area with beautiful views plus a slide-out twin sized sofabed as well as a queen sized bed making it perfect for friends traveling together. (Please note, even with the slide-out sofa, this room can only accommodate 2 guests.) You will also find an oak dresser, individually controlled heat and A/C, and large private bath with a tub/shower combo as well as a vintage ceramic sink.
Room 3
A quiet room featured in the original part of the house with wide-plank pine floors and angled ceilings. An antique oak dresser, and a queen size bed greet you with memories of the original style that Mr. Aldrich himself built. This room reflects the classic elegance that the house was built for. Featuring original art, a private bath with claw foot tub, vintage brass shower, pedestal sink, and individually controlled heat and A/C.
Room 4
In this room, you will wake up to views of the gardens in this classic and refreshing space. Enjoy a Victorian walnut dresser, a queen size bed with a beautiful carved headboard, individually controlled heat and A/C, and full private bath with stand up shower.
Room 5
The largest in the house, this luxurious room features an elegant ambiance including a queen sized bed, a sitting area with two wing back chairs in a bay window at the front of the house with views of the Washburne Home and our gardens, individually controlled heat and A/C, an extra large private bath with original American Standard claw foot tub and vintage brass shower, a pedestal sink, and two plush robes to add to your relaxation. This room rightfully served as the Master Suite during the time that the McClellans owned the home.
